Religious Vestments
On
two separate occasions, Cleve Gray was commissioned to design religious
vestments for Christian church services. In 1972, at the request
of Haig Nargesian of the Episcopalian Church in Washington, Ct. (above),
he designed Ordinary vestments to be worn throughout the entire liturgical
year. In 1978, at the request of the Episcopalian Church of Farmington,
Ct. (below), he designed vestments for the four principal liturgical
seasons.

"The Farmington, Ct. Episcopal Church had a group of wonderful women who volunteered to sew the vestments. I bought the materials in New York City and gave them my painted cartoons, which they reproduced perfectly." -C.G. 2000 |
